Happy Monday
Ready, Set, Go
Today is Week 3 of working for myself. After twenty-plus years of being an employee, working set hours and doing whatever management decide I should be doing, it’s pretty scary to be venturing out on my own. After months of planning, thinking, talking and – yes – worrying, the time has come. I’ve left my lovely colleagues behind and swapped the smart, modern office building for a desk in the corner of my lounge. I’m surrounded by baby toys and other child-related paraphernalia but, on the plus side, I didn’t have to scrape the icy car this morning and head off down the motorway.
Though I’m not sure how the future will pan out (Will I get enough work? Will I be able to pay the bills? Will I miss having real live colleagues to chat to?), I’m also very excited about running my own business and helping as many clients as I can to prepare for the future.
Over the years, so many people have told me “I would have made a will sooner, but I kept putting it off.” I get it, it’s easy to do. No one wants to think about what happens after they’ve gone. No one wants to decide who their children should live with if they’re no longer here. But people have also told me, too many times to count, “I feel so much better now I’ve done it. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. You made the whole thing seem easy.” And that’s when I get a warm glow of satisfaction, of feeling like I’ve helped someone and given them some invaluable peace of mind.
The main goal, and what it all boils down to, is providing an excellent service to my clients, helping people plan for the future, or deal with that future when it arrives.
So don’t put it off! Contact me and talk to a friendly, approachable lawyer who can help you with wills, powers of attorney, probate, tax and trusts. I’m happy to come and see you at home, and I offer evening and weekend appointments if that suits you best. We can also get the ball rolling with a Zoom or phone chat if that helps.
To all my clients, past, present and future: thank you for being a part of this, thank you for your support and, most of all, thank you for letting me help you.
